Summer Institute for Technology-Enhanced Teaching and Learning 2025

In 2025, Online Learning Services (OLS) and ITS continue their tradition of annual summer workshops for faculty to incorporate instructional technologies in their teaching. SITETL draws participants from across Syracuse University, bringing them together for an intensive engagement with a small group of peers to focus on enhancing teaching practices with technology. The week-long workshop is facilitated by OLS Instructional Technology Analysts; it includes presentations, group and panel discussions, and hands-on practice. Participants leave the workshop with mastery over many of the software products licensed campus-wide for teaching and learning, and a keen sense of how to best incorporate these tools in their courses.

Workshops are offered in late May and early June. Selected participants will receive priority assistance from OLS, development spaces in the Blackboard system to work on their ultra content, and a monetary award for completing all of the workshop sessions. There are a limited number of seats in the workshop. Admission is based on an application where the participant describes their teaching and how they intend to benefit from the event.

SITETL History

The Summer Institute for Technology-Enhanced Teaching and Learning (SITETL) has been held annually at Syracuse University since 2012 with exceptions for the COVID pandemic. Over 200 faculty members have attended this event which focuses on improving teaching and learning through the intentional and judicious use of technology. SITETL is concentrated on small groups of faculty members engaging with a wide variety of topics and technologies over five full days of sessions.
